Develon Hits Hard at CONEXPO 2026: New -9 Series Heavy Excavators Launch in North America
The CONEXPO-CON/AGG 2026 show, running March 3–7 at the Las Vegas Convention Center, Doushan/Develon showcased its equipment at booth F32054 in the outdoor exhibition area. With the tagline “ACHIEVE THE NEXT,” the company used the event to introduce its -9 series heavy excavators to the North American market while putting a full range of machines and newer tech on display—strong signs they’re serious about growing here.
What really stands out at the booth is how much hands-on time visitors get. Rather than just lining up polished equipment like many others do, Develon runs several live working demos every day. A crawler excavator, dozer, and wheel loader rotate through short 10-minute sessions, with a tech explaining the hydraulics, power feel, and control response in real time. A Midwest contractor who had just finished a turn said simply, “You don’t just read the brochure—you feel right away how tough and responsive it all is.”
The main event was the North American rollout of the -9 series heavy excavators: DX230LC-9 (23-ton class), DX260LC-9 (26-ton class), DX360LC-9, and DX400LC-9 (40-ton class). These four models run on full electronic-hydraulic (EH) controls combined with AI features that make fuel use noticeably better and the operator’s day easier. Brian Kim, heavy excavator product manager at Develon, spoke to media during the show and put it plainly: “With the new -9 Series, the machine isn’t just a tool anymore—it’s an intelligent partner. The EH controls feel natural, almost like driving a pickup, and the AI-powered safety plus tablet-style interface give customers control and awareness that used to be out of reach.”
Beyond those headliners, the booth covers more than 20 machines altogether—articulated dump trucks, dozers, wheel loaders, mini excavators, compact track loaders—ready for everything from tight city sites to big quarries. Develon’s “Transparent Bucket” camera setup lets operators see straight through the bucket for safer loading work. Smart X-Care handles remote diagnostics to catch issues early and cut downtime, while the MY Develon fleet platform keeps tabs on machine health and runtime so owners can manage equipment smarter. Live autonomous digging demos kept pulling people in, showing how that tech has moved from drawings to real dirt-moving.
AI and automation dominated talk across the whole show floor—Caterpillar with autonomous rollers, John Deere rolling out digital-heavy new machines, Komatsu showing unmanned haulers—and Develon matched the pace by focusing on practical tools contractors can use now: lower fuel bills, fewer on-site risks, and simpler emissions compliance. Parent company HD Hyundai backed things up from its indoor space, and the brands clearly work well together.
Dealers were already deep in conversations about stocking parts, training techs, and sorting out territories. Video clips from the demos spread quickly online. Company people said the show marks a real step forward in strengthening the North American dealer network and service setup. With infrastructure dollars still coming in, Develon looks set to take a bigger piece of the pie.
In the middle of all that orange iron at CONEXPO 2026, Develon isn’t only displaying machines—it’s showing it belongs right up front.
